Job summary

Indium Corporation in Rome, NY is seeking a Material Scientist to advance R&D of new or improved processes for rare metals and to document experimental findings. The role involves lab-scale to pilot-scale trials, materials characterization, and reporting to upper management.

You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers to identify practical applications and assist in commercialization strategies while developing cost models and supporting safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 1–2 years of work experience.
• Ability to work independently with verbal and written instruction.
• Communicates in a clear, organized and professional manner.
• Ability to understand Indium Corporation products and services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on development of new or improved techniques for separation and purification of rare metals.
• Perform lab-scale to pilot plant scale trials for proof concepts.
• Characterize materials using state-of-the-art instrumentation.
• Prepare reports on experimental findings for upper management and records.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to identify applications and opportunities.
• Assist or lead in development and implementation of commercialization strategies.
