Job summary

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Materials Planner for a Pecos, TX-based project, mobilizing to site and coordinating material availability and schedules. You will work with Engineering, Construction, and Owner teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and adherence to the AWPP program, with emphasis on data coordination across systems.

The role requires mobilization to site, collaboration across disciplines, and effective communication with suppliers and field teams to optimize material flow

Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of field engineering disciplines and deliverables.
  • Experience inputting requisitions, receipt, storage, and issue of materials into procurement software.
  • Scheduling deliveries through automated tools and managing logistics for site deliveries.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s DSCS is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides material management planning expertise throughout the project life cycle.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Construction on material identification and reporting for AWPP.
  • Supports tagging and identification of material by discipline.
  • Creates data sets for modeling and sharing across software apps and subcontractor systems.
  • Adheres to Project Execution Plan and Materials Management Plan.

Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.

Job Summary

In this role, you will support material planning and material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages through execution while coordinating between functions and other parties, including the Owner and their equipment suppliers. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. You will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project.

This role requires mobilization to site.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provides work process and systems expertise, advice, and direction for materials management planning activities throughout the project life cycle
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Construction to ensure the material identification methodology permits accurate reporting of material status and distribution of materials according to the Project Advanced Work Packaging Program.
  • Provides input and support all the disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, etc.) with the development of the identification (Tagging) of all material associated with each discipline.
  • Establishes the data set that is going to be used in the model to ensure this data can be shared and used among the various software applications used by the project – including any subcontractor systems identified in the contract
  • Performs in accordance with the Project Execution Plan, Supply Chain Assignment Schedule (SCAS), Project Automation Plan, and the Materials Management Plan
  • Supports Project Controls and shares information associated with material lead times to inform the project schedule and flag any potential issues
  • Supports the Project Advanced Work Packaging program
  • Assists the purchasing discipline as required.
  • Performs analysis of suppliers' capacity and ability to meet Project Advanced Work Packaging requirements. Identifies material priorities based on schedule and construction requirements. Monitors and interacts directly with the suppliers to establish the priorities, provide constructability reporting, expedite the RFI resolution, and ensure the suppliers follow the priority sequence outlined in the Project Advanced Work Packaging program
  • Support Field Supply Chain with coordination of the laydown and warehouse space requirementsKeeps warehouse and laydown personnel informed of construction erection and installation plans.
  • Identifies and communicates any material constraints that could impact the Project
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Field Engineering disciplines, work processes, and the deliverables produced. Intermediate knowledge of inputting requisitions, receipt, storage, and issue of materials into procurement software.
  • Experience with Scheduling of deliveries through OTR (or similar automation tool) and managing logistics for all site deliveries. Knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and how outside data systems interact with procurement automation tools, knowledge of Bechtel’s DSCS is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Basic skill in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily Subcontractors/Vendors, Engineering, Construction, and Project Management
