Job summary

GE Vernova Advanced Research is seeking a Technology Manager for Materials Characterization to lead a world‑class team advancing microstructural analysis, advanced microscopy, and failure analysis for Power, Wind, and Electrification businesses. You will guide early‑stage development, create multi‑generational roadmaps, and align validation with product goals.

The role requires strong leadership of 3+ engineers/scientists, collaboration with Chief Engineers, and active external partnerships,

Qualifications

• Education: PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Metallurgy, or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR Master’s with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Technical Expertise: 5+ years leading programs or R&D in advanced materials characterization, failure analysis, microscopy, or related analytical discipline.
• People Leadership: Direct management experience leading teams of 3+ engineers or scientists and building high-performing organizations.

Responsibilities

• Own & Grow the Technology Portfolio across microstructural analysis, advanced microscopy, elemental/phase mapping, and root cause analysis.
• Lead early-stage tech development from concept through transition to businesses.
• Develop multi-generational roadmaps for materials reliability and failure analysis.
• Partner with Chief Engineers, Chief Scientists, and Senior Principal Engineers to align validation with product/manufacturing goals.
• Serve as strategic link between Advanced Research, business units, and external partners.
• Shape and evolve the team vision with Technology Director and Mission Leaders.
• Coordinate disruptive tech efforts with business teams and ensure integration into long-term plans.
• Establish and maintain external relationships with government agencies, labs, academia, and industry partners.
• Represent GE Vernova’s research capabilities in the broader scientific and energy community.
