Lear Corporation in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a Materials Supervisor to oversee flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods, leading warehousing and material handling to support production. The role drives inventory accuracy, material movement, and continuous improvement across safety, quality, and cost targets.

You will supervise material handlers, coordinate replenishment, and collaborate with Production, Purchasing and Planning to meet schedules and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Automotive/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience leading a manufacturing team.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily material handling, warehousing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure production lines are supplied with the necessary materials to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages and minimize excess.
  • Lead and develop material handlers and logistics personnel through coaching and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts and system transactions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, and Logistics to resolve material issues.
  • Monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, shortages, shipping, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate material discrepancies and shipping/receiving issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Coordinate movement and storage of materials from raw to finished goods.

MATERIALS SUPERVISOR

GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS – GRAND PRAIRIE PLANT

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods within the manufacturing facility to support production requirements. This role leads warehouse and material handling personnel, ensures inventory accuracy, coordinates material movement, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Supervise daily material handling, warehousing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure production lines are supplied with the necessary materials to meet manufacturing schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to prevent shortages and minimize excess inventory.
  • Lead and develop material handlers, warehouse associates, and logistics personnel through coaching, performance management, and employee development.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, physical inventories, and system transactions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, and Logistics teams to resolve material issues and support operational goals.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including inventory accuracy, line shortages, shipping performance, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve material discrepancies, inventory variances, and shipping/receiving issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, inventory optimization, and process standardization.
  • Coordinate the movement and storage of seat components, raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods.
  • Ensure proper material handling practices are followed to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
  • Participate in production meetings and support operational planning activities.
Qualifications

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Prior automotive and/or manufacturing experience
  • Prior experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination
  • Ability to evaluate, develop and execute resolution plan when unexpected issues arise.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Organized and able to prioritize based on fluctuation of needs.
  • Ability to set expectations and hold team members accountable through all facets of the job.
  • Ability to proactively assess daily and future conditions to minimize disruptions within the plant.

Bonus If You Have:

  • Prior JIT experience in a Materials related role
  • Prior experience working in a seating assembly manufacturing environment
  • Previous leadership experience in a union environment.
