Job summary

Philips in New Kensington, PA is seeking a Material Scientist to drive material safety and performance for Sleep & Respiratory Care products. You will design test plans, perform materials assessments, and coordinate testing with internal teams and external labs.

The role requires at least 1 year of materials science experience with polymers, and familiarity with ISO 10993 and regulatory standards. Travel up to 10% and collaboration across R&D, NPI, and suppliers are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in Materials Science focused on polymer materials.
• Hands-on lab testing and analysis of material properties for medical devices preferred.
• Strong root cause analysis and CAPA familiarity.
• Understanding of ISO 10993 standards and regulatory guidelines preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and develop test plans to demonstrate material safety.
• Execute testing personally or with technicians and manage assessments.
• Coordinate testing with internal and external facilities.
• Assess material failures and drive corrective actions with project teams.
• Scout and select new polymer materials and finishing technologies.
• Adhere to Quality System Procedures and report to Materials Manager.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, NPI, CROs, regulatory bodies, and suppliers.
• Travel up to 10% as needed.
