Job summary

MelKay in Evansville, IN is seeking a Material Purchasing Manager to oversee construction material sourcing and purchasing activities in person. The role requires familiarity with construction materials and strong computer skills, with experience in material purchasing or sales considered a plus.

You will issue RFQs, enter POs in Viewpoint Spectrum, coordinate with field personnel and Project Managers, and support timely order fulfillment and job costing with Accounts Payable.

Qualifications

• Experience with material purchasing or sales is a plus.
• Familiarity with materials used in construction is expected.
• Strong computer skills and typing accuracy are required.

Description:

MelKay is a locally owned and operated electrical, mechanical and plumbing contractor seeking a Material Purchasing Manager.

Candidate must have familiarity with common materials used in construction and excellent computer skills. Experience in construction material purchasing or sales a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Develop proficiency in material purchasing software platform
• Receive material orders from Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing field personnel and Project Managers
• Ensure all orders are complete and properly understood and communicated
• Issue RFQs as needed with all material suppliers
• Use purchasing software to create purchase orders in Viewpoint Spectrum (ERP/Accounting) that are properly formed and posted to job and promptly submitted to suppliers
• Oversee the timeliness of material order fulfillment (backorders, etc.)
• Work with Accounts Payable to ensure proper invoicing and job costing
