Lockheed Martin is seeking an engineering leader to manage a team and collaborate across operations to achieve manufacturing quality, throughput, and uptime. The role spans design through full production, with a focus on thin-film materials and processes.

You will drive engineering programs, develop competitive processes, and partner with CTO, Sales, and Marketing to support strategic growth while maintaining quality standards and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related field.
  • Experience with sputtering and evaporation designs and processes to produce optical thin-film based products.
  • Experience in management of professional staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering team and cross-functional engagement with operations.
  • Support technology roadmap with development, scaling, and commercialization of thin-film products.
  • Oversee production sustainment and ensure projects stay on schedule and budget.
  • Deliver documented engineering processes and quality improvements.

Supports the organization’s technology roadmap with development, scaling, and commercialization of thin-film based products. Works collaboratively with all functions to support achievement of the organizations quality objectives. Manages employee recruitment, selection, training, coaching, performance assessment, priorities, work assignments, and career development. Manages engineering activities from product design and development through full production sustainment. Oversees engineering action plans and program development processes to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Deliver documented engineering processes that are measured and improved. Oversees organizational development and maintenance of engineering staff competence. Works closely with the CTO to deliver new processes and products to support strategic growth initiatives. Supports Sales & Marketing teams with technical support for customer retention and new business development. May provide application engineering to support the Sales mission. Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice. Manages the analysis, research, design and development materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the application of principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Monitors the development, analysis and application of material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. Insures the review and approval of subcontractor material processing procedures.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related field.
  • Experience with sputtering and evaporation designs and processes to produce optical thin-film based products.
  • Experience in management of professional staff.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $178500.00 - $331500.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
