Lockheed Martin in Santa Rosa, CA, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team focused on manufacturing quality, throughput, yield, and uptime across thin-film based products.
You will oversee product design to full production sustainment, drive disciplined engineering processes, and collaborate with the CTO to deliver new processes and growth initiatives while supporting Sales & Marketing with technical solutions.

Manages engineering activities from product design and development through full production sustainment. Oversees engineering action plans and program development processes to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Deliver documented engineering processes that are measured and improved. Oversees organizational development and maintenance of engineering staff competence. Works closely with the CTO to deliver new processes and products to support strategic growth initiatives. Supports Sales & Marketing teams with technical support for customer retention and new business development. May provide application engineering to support the Sales mission.
Manages the analysis, research, design and development materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the application of principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Monitors the development, analysis and application of material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. Insures the review and approval of subcontractor material processing procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related field.
Experience with sputtering and evaporation designs and processes to produce optical thin-film based products.

Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills: focus on driving disciplined, fact-based and data-driven decisions while executing with discipline and urgency.
Master’s Degree in STEM field.
Experience with SPC and DOE techniques.
Experience in formal quality systems such as ISO, AS or IATF.
Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and product data management systems (PDM).
Ten years progressive experience in thin film coating and design.

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00
