Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks an Associate Material Process Engineer or Material Process Engineer for 2nd shift in Palmdale, CA. The role supports the Vehicle Engineering group, working on shop floor tasks, test planning, and material processes for aircraft structures.

The candidate will read specs, collaborate with technicians, and apply materials science to solve issues. Both level 1 and level 2 qualifications are described, with security clearance and citizenship prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Be completing or has completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or similar by December 2026.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
• Final approved U.S. Government security clearance may be required to start.
• Level 2 requires Master’s by 2027 or Bachelor's with 2 years aeronautical/engineering experience by 2026.

Responsibilities

• Answer shop floor assist calls promptly.
• Collaborate with technicians on the shop floor daily.
• Read, interpret and author specification changes; prepare PowerPoint and Excel data tabulation.
• Write test plans and coordinate with internal/external test labs.
• Research and develop materials and their application processes for engineering design.
• Apply chemistry, physics and materials science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
