Job summary

Bechtel in Clay, NY is seeking an Operations Specialist to support material planning and coordination for a major semiconductor project. You will implement the Material Management Plan, coordinate with Engineering and Construction, and ensure materials are identified, quantified, and issued on time to support the construction schedule.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of experience in related fields.

Qualifications

• Experience with vendor materials, tools, consumables and safety materials used in construction.
• Strong automation skills and ability to learn new applications quickly including DSCS.
• Knowledge of material storage, handling, and field purchasing functions.
• Experience with rental agreements and administration.
• Experience in work packaging materials for construction planning.
• Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Implements the Material Management Plan and coordinates the specification, identification, and quantification of materials with Engineering and Construction.
• Optimizes materials planning processes for key material commodities.
• Ensures consistent material identification and clearly defined responsibilities across project functions.
• Identifies approval requirements that could impact timely engineering deliverables.
• Coordinates with Engineering on design drawings and data from suppliers.
• Assists in implementing component numbering per project practices and the Automation Plan.
• Verifies requisitions identify required items and storage details before distribution to Construction.
• Maintains relationships with Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Supply Chain, and Construction to ensure timely materials for the schedule.
