Job summary

Alpitronic is seeking a Material Planner to own material availability from demand signal through supplier delivery, using MRP to anticipate requirements and resolve shortages in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with Production, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering and Quality to ensure materials meet schedules and support continuous production.

This on-site role in Charlotte, NC requires a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in planning or purchasing.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or materials management.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, corporate procurement processes, and production planning.
  • Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel, and ERP/BI systems.
  • Structured, independent, and detail-oriented with teamwork and adaptability.
  • International experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute material planning activities through MRP, translating sales orders, forecasts, production schedules, BOM requirements, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and open supply into material requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders, releases, and supplier schedules based on production requirements and material demand.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with international and domestic suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries, obtaining supplier commitments, and resolving delivery issues.
  • Proactively identify and manage material shortages, past-due supply, and other constraints that could impact production schedules.
  • Review MRP exceptions and take appropriate action, including expediting, de-expediting, rescheduling, increasing/reducing quantities, or canceling supply as requirements change.
  • Maintain and communicate material shortage and readiness information to Production Planning, Production Control, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Planning and Production Control to ensure material availability and production readiness in support of manufacturing schedules.
  • Manage and share material forecasts with suppliers based on sales orders, production schedules, forecasted demand, and historical consumption.
  • Continuously optimize inventory levels and material-planning metrics, including stock levels, material availability, days of supply, inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and past-due purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier acknowledgments, delivery commitments, and performance against required dates, escalating risks when supplier performance may impact production.
  • Support the material impacts of engineering changes, BOM revisions, component substitutions, new product introductions, and material phase-in/phase-out activities.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, and Production to resolve material issues related to rejected material, scrap, inventory discrepancies, substitutions, or other supply disruptions.
  • Identify potential excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory and initiate actions to minimize inventory exposure while maintaining production continuity.
  • Support accurate ERP/MRP master data by identifying issues related to lead times, order quantities, safety stock, planning parameters, and material availability.
  • Manage urgent material issues and production-related supply emergencies, ensuring timely escalation to the appropriate departments and managers locally and globally

What You'll Do

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Engineering, Economics, Logistics, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or materials management
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, corporate procurement processes, and production planning
  • Proficient use of MS Office, especially Excel, and experience with ERP and BI systems (advanced excel skills)
  • Structured and independent approach to work, team spirit, adaptability, and attention to detail International experience
