Job summary

Tempur Sealy is seeking a Materials Planner/Scheduler to plan and prepare production schedules for mattress manufacturing, ensuring timely material availability and order fulfillment. The role requires coordinating with suppliers, ERP systems, and internal teams to meet production targets.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in materials planning, strong Excel skills (macros), and experience with MRP/ERP. English fluency is required; Spanish bilinguals are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or 2-year degree with five years of related experience in materials planning or scheduling.
  • Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excel proficiency including macros, formulas, and data references.
  • Strong problem-solving and data-analysis abilities.
  • Read/write/speak English; bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare production schedules for mattress manufacturing.
  • Monitor inventory reports and work orders to determine material requirements.
  • Release and distribute production orders; coordinate with vendors on orders and RMAs.
  • Plan departmental workflow according to manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Maintain inventory records and perform cycle counts; monitor status of orders.

Job Summary:

Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of Tempur mattresses; purchases and expedites parts; and ensures customer service by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:
  • Follow all safety guidelines and participate as fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
  • Monitors production schedules, inventory reports and work orders to determine the type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority.
  • Responsible for firming, releasing, manual entry and distribution of production orders.
  • Confers with production personnel to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Plans and schedules workflow f or each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Responsible for entering purchase orders, faxing, coordinating delivery and follow-up such purchase orders and RMA's with appropriate vendors.
  • Minimal customer service duties-fulfills customer needs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Utilize, create and maintain tracking, status and information tools, (either system generated or spreadsheets) for purchased or manufactured parts.
  • Coordinate and maintain inventory records via monthly inventory or cycle count processes.
  • Place orders for materials with suppliers or other plants in order to obtain both on-time shipment and inventory goals.
  • Monitor and track status of orders and communicate with suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's or other 2-year degree, plus five years of directly related experience as a materials planner, scheduler, or similar in a manufacturing environment (component manufacturing preferred). Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Hands-on experience as a planner, scheduler or similar function within an MRP or ERP.
  • Familiarity with MPS, supply chain, inventory management, JIP/KANBAN processes and procedures is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, to include demonstrated, practical mastery of macros, formulas, external source referencing and other analytical functions.
  • Successful candidate must be highly meticulous, detail oriented, and able to solve complex problems with multiple variables (such as multiple suppliers, arrival dates, logistics, etc.) and deal with a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Language skill requirements: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, customers and suppliers. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Intermediate math skills are needed to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations; ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks associated with the production of mattresses. Must be able to measure using the metric system
