Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our Portland distribution center. You’ll operate forklift equipment, load and unload materials, and maintain accurate paperwork for distribution and shipping in a team-focused, safety-driven environment.

This full-time role offers a fixed hourly wage of $25 with a Monday–Friday schedule, comprehensive benefits starting on day one, and opportunities for growth within a large national distributor of building products.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to read and comprehend orders and safety material.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in accordance with safety guidelines and training.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars, minimizing damage.
• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently.
• Cut material to customer requested length.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Maintain tidy, safe work area and assist with inventory counts.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently.
• Cut material to customer requested length.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions

The fixed rate is XXXX per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
