POSITION PURPOSE: The Waste Technician performs routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks, including movement of solids and liquids, manual cleaning, decontamination, vacuum projects, and handling/loading/unloading containers for processing or transport.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Load and unload various containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers).
2. Construct, label, and load boxes or fiber containers.
3. Operate tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.
4. Transport hazardous waste within the facility as directed.
5. Decontaminate and dispose of drums and containers following RCRA and disposal guidelines.
6. Complete paperwork for material processing and transportation.
7. Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a clean, safe work area.
8. Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
9. Assist with loading/unloading waste materials at designated sites using appropriate equipment.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 to 6 months of relevant experience in hazardous waste or chemical industries, with proficiency in handling forklifts and tools preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Effective reading and writing communication skills.
• Training in material handling equipment operation.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training
