Job summary

Orgill, Inc. in Tifton, GA is seeking a full-time Material Handler to support the distribution center by sorting, scanning, staging and loading merchandise. Shift: Monday–Friday 12PM–8PM Pay starts at $19.00 per hour with a shift differential.

You will read truck loading forecasts, operate handheld scanners, stack pallets, and work to ensure loads are loaded and secured properly for delivery. Team-oriented environment requires strong safety practices and reliability; overtime may be required and

Responsibilities

• Read truck loading forecast summaries to plan loads.
• Set up a truck run by load forecast summary.
• Identify and sort by customer stop code.
• Operate a handheld scanner.
• Stack pallets safely to avoid customer service issues.
• Load and secure shipments.
• Obtain power equipment certifications (electric power jack, walker/rider, forklift).
• Meet quality standards and follow supervisor directions.
• Communicate truck run changes with transportation.
• Maintain excellent attendance and reliable performance.
• Follow DC housekeeping guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Primarily responsible for the support of the DC by efficiently sorting, scanning, staging and wrapping merchandise. The Department Material Handler also checks merchandise and ensures the product is loaded and checked in the proper delivery sequence by customer stop code.

SHIFT: Monday - Friday: 12PM - 8PM

Pay: $19.00 and up plus a shift differential

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must understand how to read truck loading forecast summary.
• Must be able to set up a truck run by truck load forecast summary.
• Must be able to identify and sort by customer stop code.
• Must be able to operate a handheld scanner.
• Understand how to stack pallets appropriately to avoid customer service issues.
• Must understand how to load and secure.
• Capable of obtaining power equipment certifications; electric power jack, walker/rider, and forklift.
• Must be able to meet quality standards.
• Ability to take direction from Supervisor.
• Communicate any truck run changes with transportation.
• Excellent attendance and reliable predictability a must
• Adheres to DC housekeeping guidelines
• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.*
