Job summary

Seaport Steel Company in Seattle, WA seeks a Material Handler I to operate overhead cranes and move steel loads within the production facility. This full-time role requires safe handling, inspection, and basic crane maintenance.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months related experience, and a certification to operate warehouse equipment. Eligible candidates should be capable of reading simple instructions and performing basic math.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months related experience or training acceptable.
• Certified to operate all equipment related to moving material within the warehouse.
• Ability to read simple instructions, write simple notes, and communicate with coworkers.
• Basic math skills including rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move and position steel loads.
• Observe load hookup and assess safety of the load.
• Control crane speed and direction using crane/hoist controls.
• Use hooks, slings, or buckets as required for loads.
• Clean and maintain crane and hoisting equipment; inspect for defects and report issues.

The higher end of the range, $29.75, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.Summary: Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move, and position steel loads within the production facility.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
