Job Statement

The Material Handler will be responsible for the setup of mill fixtures on Numerically Controlled Milling Machines. Working closely with Machine Operators and Manufacturing support personnel, they will properly affix, align, and load mill fixtures onto machine tables. They will also load material, forgings, and partially machined workpieces onto these fixtures according to setup instructions.

Essential Functions

1. Prepare machine tables for the placement of mill fixtures.
2. Prepare mill fixtures for placement onto machine tables.
3. Perform minor maintenance on mill fixtures (apply oil, repair threads, stone surfaces, etc.).
4. Operate overhead cranes and select appropriate slings or lifting devices.
5. Operate milling machines as necessary to support setup functions.
6. Select and apply clamps, bolts, vacuum pumps, etc.
7. Remove and replace parts and fixtures.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Specifications

The candidate must demonstrate:

• Forklift experience.
• At least 2 years of related machine shop experience.
• Familiarity with tools such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, clamps, slings, overhead cranes, forklifts, deburring tools, cutters, grinders, etc.
• Ability to read setup instructions in English.
• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, and lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
