Job description

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Material Handler - Mission Critical. The schedule for this role is Monday-Thursday, from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Commercial Products and Assemblies division is seeking a Material Handler-Forklift Operator to join our team at the Sumter, SC facility. The primary responsibilities include providing manufacturing support in the Shipping area, which involves material allocation, planning, scheduling, verifying, receiving, and shipping in the Front or Back Storeroom. No relocation benefits are offered for this position.

Essential Functions:

• Utilize computer systems and perform cycle counts of components. Analyze cycle count data to identify root causes and corrective actions. Research and audit transactions to resolve errors.
• Operate forklifts and cranes to transport and locate equipment and materials.
• Receive, document, store, stage, and issue materials to meet production needs.
• Support assembly and fabrication requirements as needed.
• Package, label, and prepare equipment, parts, and materials for shipment or storage to prevent damage.
• Apply labels, stickers, and stencils for identification and storage/shipping purposes.
• Follow all safety and industrial hygiene protocols, including proper PPE use and safe equipment operation.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience operating forklifts and/or cranes.
• Knowledge of materials planning, scheduling, receiving, shipping, and tracking systems.
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Reside within 50 miles of Sumter, SC.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of Lean principles.
• Understanding of steel and bus fabrication, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and inventory control processes.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, DMM, AS400, Mapics, Vista, and Outlook.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
