Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for supplying the department production line as well as assisting with packing and shipping finished product in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for supplying the department production line as well as assisting with packing and shipping finished product in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.

Essential Functions

  • Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Know and follow safety and emergency procedures as needed
  • Anticipating product changeovers, picks and unloads/loads decoiler in a safe and responsible manner to aid in panel production as per daily production schedule
  • Assisting Roll Former Operator, routinely perform quality checks and make machinery adjustments as needed to provide customer with complete and damage-free product
  • Aid in wrapping/tagging of panels
  • Complete all daily orders
  • Effectively coordinate with all department team members to ensure materials tracking compliance and efficient and steady production flow
  • Maintain clean work area and workstation prep throughout shift
  • Complete housekeeping and workstation prep tasks prior to end of shift
  • Assist with performing preventative maintenance on machinery as per training
  • Troubleshoot and/or notify immediate supervisor of machine breakdowns or issues
  • Maintain and/or update department visual tracking production schedule board
  • Cross-train on other machines in the department and/or in other departments in the plant
  • Provide support in meeting and/or exceeding department and plant goals such as safety, quality, scrap prevention and operational excellence
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Experience Requirements

Ability to

  • Properly utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Read and write
  • Effectively communicate with others
  • Read a tape measure, perform basic mathematical calculations as well as use a calculator
  • Maintain a dependable attendance record
  • Receive instruction and follow direction, including technical and multi-step instructions
  • Work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Work independently as well as in a team
  • Work safely, remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Attributes

  • Previous field-related, forklift and/or manufacturing experience

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Routine lifting up to 50 lbs (occasional lifting up to 80 lbs)
  • Frequent to occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, bending and twisting
