Job summary

Tunceli Projects is seeking a Material Handler I in Romeoville, Illinois. Job description

Overview

Material Handler I is responsible for the moving and storage of raw materials and finished goods, including the fabrication of products on pallets, scanning finished goods, issuing materials to batches, handling floor jacks, and operating automated equipment and stretch wrappers.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Able to perform Packer I duties
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations
  • Move raw materials (preforms, boxes, trays, etc.) from staging areas to required locations
  • Complete any paperwork required of Safety, Quality or Production Processes
  • Continually check the production lines to ensure each has the necessary amounts of correct raw materials
  • Stack finished product to create finished pallets
  • Secure finished goods on pallets per customer specifications (pack out information)
  • Document required information on reports such as the preform pack IDs and finished goods pack IDs used
  • Verify pallet is complete before moving from the production line
  • Move finished product to wrapping staging area, wrap pallets with plastic wrap per requirements, and move wrapped pallets to designated areas
  • Assist with de-palletizing, restacking, and reworking product
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping procedures
  • Maintain a clean work area (e.g., sweep areas)
  • Take trash, recyclable materials and pallets to designated locations
  • Provide breaks as directed by lead
  • Take inventory of raw materials and finished goods as directed by the Lead; scan or delete Pack IDs into the MRP system
  • Communicate issues or quality concerns related to the product to co-workers, Lead Process techs, or shift change co-workers
  • Must be able to properly utilize grinders
  • Any other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience operating a pallet jack is preferred
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • English skills must be proficient to read, write and communicate
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Must be able to operate a pallet jack

  • Any other tasks as assigned
Physical Requirements

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Lift and carry up to 60 lbs
  • Push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping
  • Reach 7 feet (84 inches) through the use of steps or other aids
  • Work environment is in a warehouse with temperatures varying based on conditions
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities
