Job summary

Mack Hils in Missouri is seeking a Material Handler to support daily operations such as unloading trucks, placing materials, labeling, and delivering supplies to the correct departments. The role requires attention to detail to ensure accurate receiving and inventory integrity.

Responsibilities include verifying part numbers against packing slips and POs, inspecting material quality, notifying purchasing of discrepancies, and assisting with counts while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and use of protective wear.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift.
  • Knowledge of steel types (stainless, cold rolled) and location of these raw materials in inventory.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job packets/procedures
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate computer.

  • Notify purchasing on order discrepancies, e.g., shortages or overages.
  • Identify and label all product properly, then deliver to the correct department/location.
  • Load trucks as required and maintain the staging area.
  • Maintain steel racks daily; stock to full capacity and keep area clean.
  • Inventory/physical counts as needed.
  • Assist with month end inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness in work area.

Job description

Summary

Material Handler is responsible for the daily duties of truck unloading, material placement, material labeling, hardware receipt and disbursement, supply delivery to appropriate areas, and cycle counts. Management reserves the right to alter the Material Handler’s job duties, functions and other criteria from time-to-time.


Essential Functions


  • Unload trucks with assistance as needed, to a quick check for obvious damage prior to unloading

    • Any damage should be noted on the freight bill and packing slip



  • Verify part numbers and quantities received match packing slip and PO

  • Inspect the quality of the materials received, inform supervisor/purchasing of any issues

  • Notifying purchasing on any order discrepancies, i.e., shortages or overages

  • Freight bills turned into Customer Care in the front office and packing slips and paperwork turned into the Purchasing/Operations Coordinators for receiving

  • Identify and label all product properly, then deliver to the appropriate department/location

  • Load trucks as required and maintain staging area

  • Maintain steel racks daily; stocking to full capacity, keeping area clean of scrap cardboard, empty skids, etc.

  • Inventory/physical counts as needed

  • Assisting with month end inventory counts and cycle counts

  • Ensure shop cleanliness in work area
