Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Material Handler in Maple Grove, MN or Minneapolis, MN. Duties include unloading trucks, receiving and stocking materials, putting away items, and processing orders and shipments.

Role requires forklift operation, CDL class A preferred, SAP experience, and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with safety rules and equipment training provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class A preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
• Forklift operator certification preferred; computer skills required.
• SAP experience preferred; warehouse experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electric and gas materials is preferred.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and work indoors/outdoors in dusty environments.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unload carrier trucks; take stock and non-stock materials.
• Put away materials in assigned or random locations; fill orders.
• Physically stage and track materials in the database; load/unload delivery trucks.
• Process shipping paperwork and credits for materials returned from field.
• Maintain clean work areas; operate forklifts safely; comply with safety rules.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.

We anticipate the need for one or more Material Handler(s) at our Maple Grove Service Center in Maple Grove, MN or Chestnut Service Center in Minneapolis, MN. The starting pay for this position is $28.91 hourly according to Exhibit A in the CBA. The working hours for this position will be 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. This position will be posted for 10 working days from September 21, 2026, to October 2, 2026.

Summary

This position is responsible for receiving activities, which include the unloading of carrier trucks and receipt of materials both (stock & non-stock), put away activities, put stock materials away in assigned & random locations, order filling, physically fill material orders for field, physically stage and track materials in data base, load & unload material delivery trucks and process necessary required shipping paperwork, process credits of materials returned from field, maintain clean work areas as necessary. Utilize various computer applications and software. This position requires the safe operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment. A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Preferred, Class A; or able to obtain within 6 months
• Forklift operator certified/preferred with experience and computer skills required
• SAP experience preferred
• Warehouse experience preferred
• Knowledge of electric and gas materials preferred
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, work inside and outside in dusty environments and be in good physical condition
• Able to work at heights of up to 30 feet as necessary
• Will be required to work extended hours and respond to after‑hour emergencies as necessary
