Job summary

The Material Handler at Bay Converting Inc. supports production flow in the laminating operation, safely loading, unloading, and moving fiberglass insulation and facing materials to keep production running smoothly.

Responsible for accurate documentation (Bills of Lading, Picking Lists, Packing Slips) and operating forklifts and related equipment in alignment with company and OSHA standards. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling operations preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Familiarity with fiberglass insulation, facing materials, or metal building insulation manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, Bills of Lading, Packing Slips, and Packing Slips accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer and inventory management system proficiency.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely perform duties in a production environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and productive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Material Handling & Flow Support
  • Load, unload, and transport raw materials and finished laminated rolls using forklifts and other approved equipment.
  • Ensure materials delivered to production areas in correct order, quantity, and specification to maintain continuous laminator operation.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of all goods.
  • Prepare, package, and process outgoing shipments according to customer and carrier requirements.
  • Stay knowledgeable about current production schedules to stage fiberglass insulation and ensure facing materials are available for order changeovers.
  • Verify incoming shipments against Purchase Orders and Packing Slips; report discrepancies to supervision.
  • Ensure Bills of Lading and Packing Lists are accurate when shipping finished products or transferring materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through physical counts and ERP system updates.
  • Conduct quality control checks to verify product condition, labeling, and documentation accuracy.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Perform and document daily forklift safety inspections; report and assist in maintenance as required.
  • Ensure insulation stacks are aligned and stable; secure loads before transport.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized; assist production and shipping as needed.
  • Handle hazardous or special materials under supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management.
