Job summary

Stryker is seeking a materials handler in Portage, MI to manage the flow of materials in manufacturing areas. You will operate material handling equipment, unpack goods, maintain records, and ensure accurate data entry into the inventory system.

The role requires lifting heavy items, following drawings or packing instructions, and may involve training other staff. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with prior manufacturing experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• Must read and follow established guidelines for materials flow.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized handling equipment as needed.
• Unpack, inspect, and compare goods with PO/invoices.
• Maintain records of received goods and escalate issues.
• Lift/move heavy items and operate forklift when required.
• Prepare/shipment records and comply with documentation procedures.
• Enter data into inventory management system accurately.
• Train others in distribution tasks and safety.
• Work from drawings or documented assembly/packaging instructions.
• Operate computer-related programs.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm, OT as needed

What you will do:

• Under Direct supervision, handles and maintains flow of materials and products in manufacturing areas according to established guidelines. Provides information for recording movement of incoming and outgoing materials and supplies. May operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
• May unpack and check goods against purchase orders or invoices.
• Maintains records of received goods, alerting appropriate personnel to inspect unsatisfactory items when necessary.
• Will lift and move heavy items and may operate a forklift.
• Will prepare and maintain records of items shipped and will be required to comply with documentation and record keeping procedures.
• May prepare goods for final shipment and/or production assembly.
• May examine, stock and/or distribute goods in inventory and/or in other areas.
• May enter information into the inventory management system.
• May train others in distribution related tasks.
• May work from engineering drawings and/or follow documented assembly/ packaging instructions.
• Ability to operate computer related programs.

Preferred

• Ability to operate common material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, scales, label maker, PC, etc.).
• General computer skills.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior manufacturing or related experience

$20.75/hr + $2.00 Shift Differential plus bonus potential and benefits.
