Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Material Handler I in Storage Control for the afternoon shift (Second Shift, 2:30pm–11:00pm) in New York. You will receive, sort, store, pick, and pack items while maintaining quality metrics and paperwork.

No prior experience is required, but distribution/warehouse background and powered industrial trucks experience are preferred. This role involves cold storage, hazardous materials handling, and PPE usage within a warehouse setting.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No previous work experience required.
• Preferred: experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain.
• Preferred: experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers).

Responsibilities

Job Description

This is a Material Handler I role in Storage Control department with the work shift of Monday-Friday, 2:30pm.-11:00pm.

A Day in the Life:

• Receiving, examining, sorting, arranging, counting, storing, picking, and packing items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.

• Preparing and filing routine documentation.

• Maintaining quality metrics.

• Operating material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, pallet jack, Forklift etc).

• Working in and out of a +4c walk-in Cold Room and -20c walk-in Freezer.

Education:

• High School diploma or GED required

Experience:

• No previous work experience required

• Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field

• Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers)

• Ability to analyze and solve problems independently as well as collaboratively.

• Self-motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Close vision and ability to adjust focus required.

• Regularly required to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to lift weight of 45 pounds or more, with assistance and/or with equipment on occasion.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $12.56–$18.84.
