Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in New York is seeking a Material Handler II to join the Storage Control team. You will perform finished goods tasks, operate PIT equipment, and contribute to safety, quality, and process improvements on a Monday–Friday schedule.

You will process orders, handle receiving/picking/packing/shipping, and help keep accurate inventory while supporting colleagues and customers every day.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of general warehouse experience.
• One to two years’ experience working with computers and basic software packages (Excel/Word).
• Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers).
• Experience handling hazardous materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process customer orders daily to meet expectations.
• Work in one or more process paths; receiving, picking, packing, or shipping.
• Prepare shipping documents, coordinate shipments with couriers, and ship materials per SOPs.

Location/Division Specific Information:

This is a Material Handler II role in department Storage Control with the work shift of Monday-Friday 6:30a.m. to 3:00p.m. Within the Storage Control department, you will perform Finished good tasks and regularly use PIT equipment. In addition to daily tasks, you will participate in safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.

A Day in the Life:

• Process customer orders daily to meet their expectations.
• Work in one or more process paths; receiving, picking, packing, or shipping.
• Prepares shipping documents, coordinates shipments with couriers, and ships materials, including finished products, per applicable SOPs.
• Ensure inventory is stored accurately.
• Work with your team to make sure everyone has a magical experience every day.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of general warehouse experience.
• One to two years’ experience working with computers and basic software packages, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers).
• Experience handling hazardous materials (chemicals) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Maintain knowledge of current import/export regulations as they relate to shipment of goods to and from the USA.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems independently as well as collaboratively.
• Self-motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Successful in partnering with colleagues of differing cultural, language and educational backgrounds.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Close vision and ability to adjust focus required.
• Regularly required to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to lift weight of 45 pounds or more, with assistance and/or with equipment on occasion.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $14.41–$24.01.
