Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in New York is hiring a Material Handler I for the Storage Control department on a third shift (nights). The role involves handling, counting, storing, and packing items, operating material handling equipment, and working in cold rooms and freezers while maintaining quality metrics.

You will join a team focused on accurate receiving, dispositioning, and documentation, with opportunities to grow in distribution, warehouse, or supply chain functions.

Job Description

This is a Material Handler I role in Storage Control department with the work shift of Monday-Friday, 10:30pm.-7:00am.

A Day in the Life:

• Receiving, examining, sorting, arranging, counting, storing, picking, and packing items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.

• Preparing and filing routine documentation.

• Maintaining quality metrics.

• Operating material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, pallet jack, Forklift etc).

• Working in and out of a +4c walk-in Cold Room and -20c walk-in Freezer.

Experience:

• No previous work experience required

• Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field

• Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers)

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Close vision and ability to adjust focus required.

• Regularly required to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to lift weight of 45 pounds or more, with assistance and/or with equipment on occasion.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $17.00–$19.00.
