Job summary

Shur-Co LLC in Stuart, FL is seeking Material Handler I–III positions to support material flow in the plant. Responsibilities include loading/unloading materials with a forklift, measuring and cutting to size, and handling miscellaneous logistics onsite.

Level II adds CNC band saw operation and print-based material identification; Level III adds leadership and mentoring duties. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, basic math and reading skills, and be able to pass forklift

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload material and pallets on trucks using a forklift
  • Properly cut materials to size using tape measure

  • Make basic math calculations
  • Properly stack and secure parts to pallets or racks and move them safely with a forklift
  • Simple assembly and/or packaging per instruction
  • Identify material type and size per print (Level II)
  • Setup and operate metal fabrication machinery with minimal instruction (Level II)
  • Run CNC auto-feed bandsaw unassisted (Level II)
  • Lead and direct peers (Level III/Lead)
  • Exhibits leadership potential and cross-training ability (Lead)

Job DetailsJob Location: Stuart, FL 34997Job Shift: Day ShiftJob Summary: Responsible for processing raw materials utilizing metal fabrication equipment. Responsibilities also include checking incoming material for accurate delivery, loading and unloading materials onto a laser cutting machine, and general logistics of moving materials around the plant.

Material Handler I – Entry Level
  • Load and unload material and pallets on trucks using a forklift
  • Properly cut materials to size using tape measure
  • Operate metal fabrication machinery with instruction
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools as needed
  • Make basic math calculations
  • Properly stack and secure parts to pallets or racks and move them safely with a forklift
  • Simple assembly and/or packaging per instruction
Material Handler II – Skilled Level
  • Load and unload material and pallets on trucks using a forklift
  • Identify material type and size per print
  • Properly cut materials to size using tape measure
  • Setup and operate metal fabrication machinery with minimal instruction
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools as needed
  • Setup and run CNC auto-feed bandsaw unassisted
  • Make basic math calculations
  • Properly stack and secure parts to pallets or racks and move them safely with a forklift
  • Simple assembly and/or packaging with minimal instruction
Material Handler III – Advanced Level
  • Must meet all level 1 requirements
  • Must meet all level 2 requirements
  • Comfortable giving direction and or leading Peers.
  • Shows interest in learning additional skills.
  • Shows good decision-making skills without supervision.
  • Great people skills
Material Handler – Lead Position

Must meet all level 1 requirements
Must meet all level 2 requirements
Must meet all level 3 requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
