Job summary

The Sheridan Group is seeking a Warehouse Associate in Stevens Point, WI, to ensure smooth material flow from receipt to shipment. You will handle staging, labeling, and inventory, and collaborate with teams to keep schedules on track.

Primary duties include accurately processing shipments, maintaining documentation, and reporting variances. Candidates should be able to lift up to 75 pounds, attain a forklift certification, and work in a manufacturing environment while adhering to safety

Qualifications

  • Ability to attain and maintain a Type III Forklift Certification.
  • Ability to lift average weights up to 75 lb and stand for 8+ hours per day.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper and timely placement, storage, retrieval, and delivery to designated areas, including travel to remote warehouses.
  • Prepare material/product to be staged, shipped, or inventoried.
  • Labeling of material and components for proper identification.
  • Review production, press, and shipping schedules for timely flow of materials and products.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, verify counts, and process incoming/outgoing product.
  • Communicate shortages, changes, or variances to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment and operate forklift safely.
  • Cross-train to perform all department duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Pursue improvements in work processes and model Sheridan's core values.

Job description

Ensures proper and timely flow of all materials and products from arrival until shipment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper and timely placement, storage, retrieval, and delivery to designated areas, which may include travel to and from remote warehouses.
  • Prepare material/product to be staged, shipped, and/or inventoried.
  • Responsible for product identification to include proper tagging and labeling of material and components.
  • Review production, press, and shipping schedules to ensure proper and timely flow of materials and product.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and information to include verifying counts on all materials shipped and received; verifying accuracy of load flag/packing slip to the load being received; and processing incoming and outgoing product.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers to include notifying operators of shortages/changes in assigned materials; appropriate personnel of variances in paper stock; reporting damage to supervisors and/or team leads; notify appropriate personnel of gains/losses in raw material use.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain forklift and equipment to include completing daily inspection and changing LP tanks and/or batteries.
  • Cross train to effectively perform all duties within department, as needed and assigned by supervisor.
  • Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.
  • Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan’s core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to attain and maintain a Type III Forklift Certification required.
  • Ability to lift average weights up to 75# and stand/sit for 8+ hours per day.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively work independently with little or no direction and follow up to complete assignments required.
  • Ability to demonstrate practical and technical knowledge of the job including an understanding of work instructions, processes, equipment, and materials to perform the job required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively complete work and required paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and neatly following established processes and procedures required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively demonstrate initiative and creativity; teamwork and cooperation; and adhere to and comply with all company and environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime and other shifts required.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance required.to learn and use company-specific computer applications and software required.

May include minimal travelto and from remote warehouses.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 80 pounds.
