Job summary

University of Southern California (Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry) is seeking a Material Handler to receive, process, and deliver orders, transfer materials within storage areas, and pack and ship outgoing merchandise across USC campuses. The role includes loading deliveries, maintaining area cleanliness, and processing campus mail and packages.

Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge is preferred; forklift operation may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or combined education/experience accepted.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office including Outlook and general computer knowledge.
• Ability to operate forklift and related material-handling equipment if required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and deliver incoming orders and shipments.
• Transfer materials between stockroom, warehouse and departments.
• Pack and ship outgoing orders and returns.
• Load and deliver merchandise to departments or campuses.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the work area.
• Process campus mail and shipments (UPS, FEDEX, etc.).

This person receives, processes, and delivers incoming orders and/or packs and ships outgoing orders. Transfers materials from storage area to ordering department and/or relocates materials within storage area. Makes pickups and deliveries, as required.Job Accountabilities:Transfers materials from stockroom, warehouse, or other storage facility to ordering department and/or relocates materials within storage facility, as assigned. May be required to use hand truck, forklift, hoist, motorized conveyor, or other material handling equipment.Accepts incoming shipments upon arrival at dock. Removes merchandise from belt and moves it to appropriate area of stockroom, if required.Verifies merchandise shipments received against purchase orders, packing slips and/or waybills. Checks order for completeness and possible damage.Logs shipments, completes and forwards paperwork in a timely manner, as assigned. Files paperwork, as assigned.Processes orders for delivery. Loads and delivers merchandise to department, sales floor, or other designated location.Picks up and delivers materials across campus, as assigned.Prepares, packs, and ships all outgoing merchandise (including returns) according to department procedures.Maintains general order and cleanliness of area, including removal of trash, as assigned.Receives, sorts and processes mail, packages and other items for university departments. Makes deliveries and pick ups as required. Documents receipts.Processes campus mail, UPS, FEDEX, and other shipments using appropriate postage or requisitions.Preferred Qualification: Familiar with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook; General Computer KnowledgeNote: This position may require ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment and to use scales, postage meters, UPS machines and other similar machines.
