Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our distribution center. This role emphasizes safe forklift operation, loading/unloading shipments, and maintaining organized storage.

You will follow safety guidelines, perform daily equipment checks, and assist with inventory counts while preparing distribution paperwork. One year of forklift/warehouse experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.
