Job summary

BlueLinx is seeking a dedicated Material Handler/Forklift Operator for our Portland distribution center. Join a team that values safety, consistency, and quality service as you handle materials and operate forklifts daily.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate forklift and transport products.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Read and comprehend sales orders and safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in safety compliance per guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars.
• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently.
• Cut material to customer requested length.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently.
• Cut material to customer requested length.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is XXXX per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
