Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a safety-conscious forklift operator for our Kansas City, MO plant. The role supports production by moving materials, loading/unloading, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

You will operate sit-down forklifts, follow safety procedures, and work up to 12 hours per day, Monday through Sunday as needed; prior material handling experience is preferred; ESOP benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform duties.
• One month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous material handling work experience preferred.
• Previous HiLo driving experience preferred.
• Must be able to work up to 12 hours per day including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Observes and complies with safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
• Supports needs analysis and attends scheduled training.
• Participates in independent auditing and continuous improvement activities.
• Stops work on processes when appropriate and contains suspect or defective material.
• Moves levers and pedals to drive forklift and control movement of lifting apparatus.
• Positions forks and lifts loads safely and transports to designated areas.
• Unloads and stacks material using lifting devices.
• Moves material within the plant as needed for efficiency.
• Inventories materials on the work floor and supplies accordingly.
• Weighs materials or products and records weights as required.
• Loads/unloads materials onto pallets or lifting devices.
• Recharges batteries or replaces gas tanks as needed.
