AdvantaStaff in the Greater Richmond area is hiring a Material Handler to support manufacturing operations. The role involves receiving, moving, and storing parts, loading and unloading with forklifts, and ensuring accurate data entry using RF scanners.

The position starts at $18 per hour and offers a path to temp-to-hire with benefits upon eligibility. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with safety training and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklift equipment in a manufacturing setting.
• Basic math and data entry skills; must pass a math assessment.
• Good communication skills and ability to read/write in English.
• Minimum one year of shipping/receiving and material handling experience in manufacturing.
• Prior RF scanner experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Fills requisitions and moves materials to fabrication/assembly areas.
• Assembles orders from stock and transports them to packing/shipping areas.
• Reads production schedules to identify items to move.
• Inspects loads for accuracy and safe handling for timely delivery.
• Records material movements using RF handheld or computer systems.
• Operates forklifts, cherry pickers and related equipment.

AdvantaStaff is looking to hire Material Handler in the Greater Richmond area starting at $18per hour. This is a long term temp position with potential to turn into temp to hire position with benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and more once eligibility requirements are met. This position performs duties to receive, retrieve, transfer and store parts and materials for manufacturing operations. Under direct supervision loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard or work site. Reads work order or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Operates forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Pay: $18 p/hr

Hours/Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm

Essential Job Duties

• Fills requisitions, work orders, requests for materials or other stock items and moves and/or distributes materials to fabrication and assembly areas.
• Assembles orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or moves orders to packing stations, shipping department or trailers.
• Reads production schedules, customer orders, and work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to identify items to be moved, gathered or distributed.
• Inspects product load for accuracy and safely moves it around the facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands together in preparation for movement.
• Loads and unloads materials to or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves manually, by hoist, crane or forklift.
• Moves materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas by hand, hand truck or forklift.
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined locations.
• Uses computer and hand-held scanner to assess info, record transactions and verified data.
• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed by processing issues, transfers, receipts or sales orders. Key transactions in to RF hand-held or desktop computer.
• Ships whole goods/parts to destination and/or moves within assembly/fabrication areas.
• Operates forklifts, cherry pickers, sit down and stand up lifts.
• Accurately records work order information and inventory transactions.
• Uses computer to assess information or verify data.
• Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area.
• Follows all company and departmental safety rules including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintains focus on work areas for flags indicating materials are out or running low.
• May be assigned additional responsibilities as necessary to support the business operations.

Job Qualifications

• Ability to operate forklift and parts picker lift safely.
• General computer skills -- data entry experience.
• Prior experience with RF scanners helpful.
• Prior JD Edwards experience helpful.
• Basic math skills. Must pass math assessment test
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to read and write in English.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum one-year previous shipping/receiving and material handling experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience operating a forklift in both sit-down and stand-up lift truck

Physical/Environmental Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively and unassisted
• Operate moving equipment
• Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
• Ability to distinguish colors and shades of color and work in a loud manufacturing environment
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
