Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our distribution center team. You will operate forklifts, load/unload materials, and prepare distribution paperwork, while maintaining safety and quality service.

This role requires at least one year of forklift/warehouse experience, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and the ability to follow directions. We offer a fixed hourly wage, company benefits, and PTO plus holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate a forklift to transport products.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders and safety materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
