Job summary

Insteel Industries is seeking a Material Handler/Laborer for its manufacturing operations in the United States. You will move materials using forklifts, operate overhead cranes and spreader bars, and perform cycle counts and data entries in the plant systems.

The role requires safety-minded individuals with at least two years of forklift/crane experience, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and strong attention to detail. Training and growth opportunities are offered in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions. Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ forklift and crane operational experience required in heavy material handling and moving responsibilities.
• An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable

Responsibilities

• Use spreader bar attachment to handle various materials in various sizes, shapes and weights
• Move completed materials/product from machine conveyor to appropriate stating area in the warehouse using the propane or diesel forklift tractor
• Possess or be able to obtain a forklift/overhead crane operator certification and be fully functional in their operation
• Safely operate equipment in a close quartered shipping yard with various materials, trucks, and employees present
• Empty and monitor scrap dumpsters; contacts scrap dealer when needed
• Cut and bend tie wire for securing sheets of material
• Use pneumatic banding machine to band finished material
• Have appropriate computer skills to make entries of products, material and cycle count quantities into the appropriate systems
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Visually checks quality of finished product
• Must possess a high attention to details, work with production department, and train others as needed
