Job summary

Valmont Industries in McCook, Nebraska, is hiring a Material Handler 2 to transport materials within manufacturing areas and maintain storage per control procedures. You will support production by stocking workstations, handling shipments, and aiding cycle counts.

The role requires forklift and overhead crane capabilities, basic math, blueprint reading, and strong safety awareness. Overtime may be required and training provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Forklift certification or ability to acquire forklift certification.
• If location allows, overhead crane certification.
• Ability to operate hand and banding tools.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret work instructions, drawings, and/or blueprints.
• Ability to measure parts with a tape measure and gauges.
• Ability to work outside in extreme heat or cold.
• Ability to log inventory transactions accurately.
• Ability to work overtime when required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months forklift experience.
• Inventory control experience.
• MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Ability to solve problems with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate with safety as a priority and follow PPE requirements.
• Supply manufacturing workstations with materials.
• Locate and gather parts for production.
• Place materials in proper storage locations.
• Record part descriptions and quantities on boxes as needed.
• Receive incoming material shipments.
• Load and unload trucks as needed.
• Report damages and shortages to supervisors.
• Verify inventory levels and assist with cycle counts.
• Support continuous improvement within Production.
• If applicable, operate overhead crane to load/unload machinery.
• Other duties as required.
