Job summary

Goodwill-Industries-of-South-Central-California is seeking a Material Handler I to receive, transport, sort and display donated merchandise. You will work as part of the Retail Services Department to support store operations and assist donors and customers with a helpful, respectful attitude.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to ethics, safety, and confidentiality while performing opening, processing and closing duties.

Qualifications

• Minimal ability to read and write.
• Prior customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to present information to groups, managers, employees, customers and the public with tact and courtesy.

Responsibilities

• Complete opening activities and prepare for truck operations and donation drives.
• Move, sort, and display merchandise according to company procedures; lift up to 70 pounds as needed.
• Receive and process donated goods; direct donors to proper locations and issue receipts.
• Maintain records of daily activities, donation counts and other reports in a neat, legible manner.
• Perform housekeeping duties to keep donation areas, bathrooms and store clean.
• Cooperate with coworkers and cover breaks as part of a team.
• Prepare salvage items, sort and ensure quality products for resale; wrap items for transport.
• Build furniture for display and assist with pricing items per company policy.
• Assist with closing activities and store clean-up; follow safety and loss prevention policies.
• Provide customer service and project a positive image during public contact.
