Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a diligent Material Handler to coordinate material movement between departments and ensure timely production. You will print and distribute pick tickets, perform computer transactions, and relay information to Material Support to keep schedules on track.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork. A forklift certification is a plus, and basic math and computer skills are required for daily tasks. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate material movement between departments per routing requirements.
• Sort questionable materials per Quality Control's request.
• Print and distribute pick tickets and perform computer transactions as necessary.
• Organize sequence of pulling material and relay information to Material Support.
• Ensure production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
• Assist during daily peak times to operate material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensure communication with management and shifts; maintain good feedback across shifts.
• Assist supervisor with Continuous Improvement Projects, equipment evaluation, training needs, and interviewing/hiring when assigned.
• Monitor and enforce shop floor control systems.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; identify and correct unsafe conditions.
• Study systems for opportunities and propose changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

2. Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control's request.
3. Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
4. Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
5. Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
6. Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
7. When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
8. Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
9. Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
10. Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
• May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
