Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) is seeking a 3rd shift Material Handler to support production with material flow, pick ticket printing, and required computer transactions. The role involves organizing material pull sequences and relaying information to Material Support to keep schedules on track.

You will communicate with management and shifts, assist with Continuous Improvement projects, and help monitor shop floor control while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates material movement to meet routing requirements.
• Prints and distributes pick tickets; performs computer transactions.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely processing and movement of goods; assists during peak times with material handling equipment.
• Ensures good communication with management and shifts.
• Assists supervisor with Continuous Improvement projects and training needs.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows safety procedures and wears PPE; identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems for improvements and proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities - 3rd Shift

• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
• May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
