Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated, at the Gretna, LA facility (Zatarain's brand) is seeking a Material Handler on the 2nd Shift (2:30pm-11pm, Mon-Fri). The role supports shipping dock operations, inbound/outbound inventory, and daily warehouse activities to ensure efficient production flow.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, familiarity with Windows, and at least one year in a warehouse environment; OSHA safety training is required and

Responsibilities

• Inspect shipping dock operations with dock personnel.
• Receive inbound finished goods and perform inventory transactions.
• Process outbound loading orders with dock staff.
• Record inventory transactions and barcode tickets.
• Transport and store materials neatly.
• Perform daily warehouse housekeeping.
• Operate equipment safely and report issues.
• Follow safety and GMP guidelines.
• Other duties as needed under Materials Management.

Essential Functions

• Work with dock personnel to insure effective operation of shipping dock activities.
• Receive inbound finished goods from co-packers and off site storage facilities and perform required inventory control transactions.
• Work with dock personnel to complete outbound loading orders.
• Complete and process required inventory control transactions according to company/department standards including scanning and printing tickets with barcode equipment.
• Transport and store materials in a neat and orderly manner.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties in the warehouse areas including sweeping, collecting trash and collecting damaged product.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner and insure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems.
• Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines

Other Responsibilities

• Work in other jobs positions under Materials Management as needed. Accurately enters information into the time clock to record cost center changes, time in and time out.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred Must be familiar with Microsoft windows Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must successfully complete safety courses and obtain OSHA certification
• One year background in a warehouse environment preferred.
• Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple math calculations.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with others.
• Must be able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors.
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow established procedures.
• Must have common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
• Must be able to work overtime on a frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling/production demands.
