Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a global leader in flavor, seeks a 2nd Shift Technician at its Gretna, Louisiana facility (Zatarain's). The role focuses on weighing spices, following GMP and safety guidelines to support daily production.

Under supervision of Production Manager, you will weigh raw ingredients, record batch weights, maintain cleanliness, and collaborate with team to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds daily.
• Ability to read, write and perform simple math to measure ingredients.
• Must work overtime on weekends as scheduling demands.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors.
• Able to bend and stoop.

Responsibilities

• Weighs spices accurately in the weigh-up area using batch sheets.
• Weighs drums of spice and records weights on batch paperwork.
• Ensure weigh-up room operates effectively to meet production needs.
• Perform daily housekeeping in work areas and plant/warehouse areas.
• Operate equipment safely and report problems.
• Follow safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines.

The Pre-Weigh Technician position exists to weigh spices in an accurate and timely manner to support daily operations on the production line. Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, this individual must be able to remain fully attentive of their work surroundings while working at a steady pace. They must be able to multitask and adapt to various work assignments, must keep their work area clean and follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines. In addition, individuals must work well with others in a supportive team environment in order to meet production quality and quantity standards, while reducing waste and rework and minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities:

• Work with co-workers in the Weigh-Up area to ensure production needs are met by accurately weighing raw ingredients using product batch sheets and following all quality standards.
• Weighs drums of spice and records weights on Batch sheet paperwork.
• Work with co-workers in the weigh up room to insure the effective operation of the weigh-up room to meet production needs, quality standards and help minimize downtime and practice waste control.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties in the work area and occasional housekeeping duties in the plant or warehouse areas including sweeping, vacuuming, collecting trash, washing walls and equipment.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner and ensure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems.
• Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent daily basis.
• Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple math calculations in order to accurately measure amounts of ingredients.
• Must be able to work overtime on a frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling production demands.
• Able to communicate effectively and work well with others.
• Able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors.
• Able to bend and stoop.
