Job summary

ChampionX in Tulsa, OK seeks a skilled Material Handler for our facility. You will operate equipment, move material, and support safe, efficient transport of goods within the yard and warehouse.

This role requires basic reading/writing, ability to lift heavy loads, and familiarity with hoists and cranes. You will follow safety procedures, keep areas clean, and report material conditions to supervision.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Reading, writing, and basic math skills sufficient for the role.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment in a safe, efficient manner to prevent spills or damage.
• Understands mechanics of the assigned unit.
• Ensures material is properly stacked or tiered.
• Moves material to the location designated on the material tag.
• Has knowledge of all materials used in the department (in process or finished).
• Checks hoist, spreader, and spreader chains daily.
• Hooks and unhooks material for crane operator.
• Keeps machines stocked with material.
• Moves material to forwarding zone and tags it for other departments.
• Keeps spacer bars in orderly condition.
• Monitors material for rust and straightness.
• Reports material heats and condition issues to supervisor.
• Capable of safely driving trucks, yard trucks, cranes, or trailers as required.
• Follows safety protocols and uses PPE.

What you will do:

• Operates equipment in a safe efficient manner to avoid spills or damage to equipment or products being transported.
• Understands mechanics of assigned unit.
• Ensures that material is properly stacked or tiered.
• Moves material to location designated on material tag.
• Has knowledge of all materials, whether in process of manufacture or finished, used in assigned department.
• Checks hoist, spreader, and spreader chains daily.
• Hooks and unhooks material for crane operator.
• Keeps machines stocked with material.
• Moves material to forwarding zone and tags it for other departments.
• Keeps spacer bars in orderly condition.
• Constantly observes material for rust and straightness.
• Makes written reports to supervisor as to heats and condition of material, regarding defective materials and mixed heats.
• Capable of safely and efficiently driving any type of truck, yard truck crane, or truck-tractor with trailer or winch.
• Has good knowledge of proper and safe use of binders, chains, winch lines, snatch blocks, side booms, or gin poles.
• Responsible for seeing that assigned unit or equipment is not neglected or abused.
• Reports all needed repairs to supervisor.
• Helps load, unload and check any material which is received or shipped by company.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of High School or equivalent, related experience and ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow instructions.

Physical Demands:

(if applicable) Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing. A medium amount of force is required frequently to handle spacer bars, to hook and unhook material. Continuous walking on even and uneven surfaces, standing, bending, and stooping. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching out. Occasional squatting, twisting, and overhead reaching are required. Based on an independent ergonomic evaluation, requires lifting/carrying 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Works in heated, ventilated shop with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to heat; some dirt and grease. Personal protective equipment required includes hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed footwear.
