Job summary

Serrmi Products is seeking a Material Handler to handle, move, and store materials. This role reports to the Shipping & Receiving Manager and emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficient material flow in welding and machine shop areas.

Key duties include coordinating material setup for production, moving materials between processes, and maintaining organized storage. Candidates should have forklift experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain necessary licenses.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Lead Welder to set up weld stations with material for the next production day.
• Move completed weldments to the next process location.
• Ensure aisles are free of in-process materials.
• Move large pipe and tube in and out using material handling trailers and overhead cranes.
• Coordinate with the Machine Shop Lead Operator to bring required materials to saw areas prior to need.
• Transport finished materials to the next process location or intermediate storage.
• Ensure machine shop aisles are free of in-process material.
• Correct inventory record accuracy with the Procurement Manager.
• Ensure material moved has a correctly filled out part number tag.
• Maintain production storage lot in an organized and clean manner.
• Gather and empty all garbage cans in the shop twice weekly before close.
• Separate and empty scrap containers into recycle dumpsters daily.
• Breakdown cardboard containers and take to recycle area.
• Clean and wash the forklift every Thursday afternoon prior to close.
• Other duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate with the Lead Welder each day for the following:

• Setting up each weld station with material for the next production day by area by COB
• Moving completed weldments to next process location
• Ensuring all in aisles are free of in process materials
• Moving all large pipe and tube in and out of the building utilizing the material handling trailers and the overhead cranes

Coordinate with the Machine Shop Lead Operator for the following:

• Bringing required materials to the saw areas one day prior to need
• Transporting finished materials to the next process location or to intermediate storage
• Ensure the machine shop aisles are free of in process material

Working closely with the Procurement Manager for the following:

• Correcting inventory record accuracy
• Ensuring all material moved has a part number tag correctly filled out
• Maintaining production storage lot in a very organized and clean manner

Material Handler

• Ensuring 100% of all material in the production lot is accounted for, labeled/tagged, and managed.
• Help to verify incoming shipments and paperwork for accuracy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Every Monday and Thursday afternoon prior to close of business gather and empty all garbage cans in the shop using the designated self tipping hopper.
• Daily separate and empty all scrap containers into the respective recycle dumpsters.
• Breakdown all cardboard terminal box containers and take them to the cardboard recycle area.
• Clean and wash the new forklift every Thursday afternoon prior to close of business..
• Other duties as required.

Work area restrictions:

The scope of responsibility is the Weld and Machine shop areas with secondary assistance in the assembly area.

Physical Demands:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling and/or sitting for long periods of time
• Climbing ladders to reach ceilings and other high objects.
• Push/Pull/Lift/Moving 50 pounds repeatedly.
