JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load Dried Distillers Grains, Bioethanol, POET Distillers Corn Oil, POET Wet Distillers, Distillers Syrup, or Biomass into trucks and rail cars using mechanical equipment, meters, scales, computers, and software to ensure timely delivery and product safety.
- Assist with unloading grain products or biomass and supply trucks.
- Complete grain or biomass grading as trained.
- Operate large machinery and equipment; obtain DOT certification if required.
- Maintain a clean work area and adhere to safety protocols, including confined space procedures and HAZMAT paperwork.
- Learn and maintain all processes related to grain operations, including repair and maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance and assist in running the bioprocessing facility scale house.
- Work outdoors, on weekends and holidays, and meet call-in and extended work hour requirements.
- Work ethically, maintain confidentiality, promote safety and environmental compliance, and foster a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as a Material Handler I or II preferred; no experience required for Material Handler I.
- Experience with heavy machinery, truck loading/unloading, and DOT certification preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and adaptability skills.
- Ability to understand bioprocessing operations and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must adhere to safety requirements, work in various environments, and be exposed to noise, dust, chemicals, and weather conditions.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing, bending, walking, working at heights, and wearing PPE.
- Subject to drug screening and random testing due to job safety sensitivity.
