Overview

The Material Handler's primary responsibility is the control and proper distribution of raw materials on the production floor. Material Handlers are also responsible for secondary materials processing (coloring, drying, grinding, etc.) and ensuring a sufficient supply of raw materials at production work centers.

Reports To: Production Manager

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain knowledge of material grades, dryer temperatures, labeling, inventory codes, reports, and production schedules.
2. Familiarize with current production jobs, material levels at each work center, upcoming job schedules, and pre-staged molds and materials.
3. Stage materials, tooling, and supplies for future production.
4. Maintain material lot traceability and accurate logs at all work centers, dryers, staging, and warehouse areas.
5. Determine correct materials for each job, load dryers and machine hoppers to sustain production levels.
6. Blend regrind and colorants as specified, recording quality data and following supervision instructions.
7. Report shortages, misuse, waste, contamination, certification issues, or lot discrepancies immediately.
8. Clean dryers, hoppers, loaders, grinders, conveyors, and other equipment as needed.
9. Prevent cross-grade and color contamination; grind, package, and label runners and discrepant parts for reclamation.
10. Keep the production floor clean and safe, free of spills and debris.
11. Transport materials and supplies between warehouse, staging, and production areas.
12. Support company policies, procedures, and objectives.

Requirements

1. At least two years of experience in a production environment, preferably in plastic molding, as an operator, material handler, utility worker, set-up assistant, or in warehouse/shipping roles.
2. Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Training

• Forklift certification and knowledge of warehouse machinery.
• Data entry, math, and computer skills.
• Physical ability to lift objects weighing 50-100 pounds.
