Job description

Material Handler (2nd Shift)

Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

• Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, product code, or customer.
• Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
• Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
• Wraps skids of cartons and roll stock in preparation for shipment
• Marks materials with identifying information
• Record amount of materials or items received or distributed.
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Uses WMS system to enter or locate items needed for delivery to other departments or to customers.
• Drives forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
• Performs inspection for all trucks prior to loading product.
• Prepares parcels for mailing.
• Unload material from inbound truck
• Responsible for maintaining, labeling and handling of hazardous waste.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with clients, customers, vendors, co-workers and supervisors.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the manager and/or designee
  
  
  

Required Work Experience And Skills

• 1 to 2 years’ experience required
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• RF Scanner experience a plus.
• Forklift experience required; stand up forklift experience a plus.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, vendors, coworkers and supervisors.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• A drive to succeed with a self-starter approach and a can-do attitude
  
  
  

Education

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold a valid Illinois driver's license.
