Job summary

SA-TECH is seeking a qualified Material Coordinator at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA. The role is full-time, non-exempt, onsite to support seaborne and aerial targets O&M with duties spanning purchasing, material flow, inventory, and coordination with Hazardous Material procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma and two years of related experience, knowledge of FAR/DFAR, and US citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in Navy Supply system desired (AZ).
  • Possess working knowledge of FAR/DFAR.

Responsibilities

  • Research, order, purchase, receive material and services in support of a US government contractor.
  • Maintain database of line items assigned to the contract.
  • Learn shipping procedures and coordinate activities in a logistical environment.
  • Collaborate with Hazardous Material Coordinator to assist Navy HAZMIN Center actions.
  • Assist in tracking equipment and specialized testing gear.
  • Gather data from vehicles and distribute to appropriate personnel.
  • Pick up will-call material from local vendors.
  • Perform physical inventory and support Contracts Manager on large orders.
  • Collateral duties include all office functions as directed by Supervisor.

(SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. At Port Hueneme, CA, SA-TECH operates and performs operational and intermediate level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s (NAWCWD’s) Targets and Marine Operations Division, including air and sea vehicles and vessels used for manned and unmanned training and test events.

We are currently seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Material Coordinator to conduct purchasing/buying to ensure efficient and continuous flow of materials in support of our Seaborne and Aerial Targets O&M Contract.

The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within, or between, departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this position, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of material to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify, if type specified. The Coordinator may monitor and control movement of material and parts along the conveyor system, using a remote-controlled panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using a calculator; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using a hand or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records in order to locate material in the process of production, using manual or computerized systems, and maintain employee records.

Specific duties include (other duties may be added):

  • Research, order, purchase, receive material and services in support of a US government contractor.
  • Work in and maintain database of line items assigned to the contract.
  • Be able to learn shipping procedures and coordinate activities in a logistical environment.
  • Work closely with Hazardous Material Coordinator/s to facilitate actions with the US Navy HAZMIN Center to authorize, order, receive, issue, inventory and account for hazardous material.
  • Assist in the tracking and documentation of associated target support equipment and specialized testing gear.
  • Gather data from vehicles and documentation and distribute to appropriate organizations/personnel.
  • Pick up will-call material from local vendors.
  • Perform physical inventory.
  • Support Contracts Manager on large and complex orders.
  • Collateral duties will include all office functions as required and directed by Supervisor.
Work Conditions
  • Primarily operates in a professional office environment located at the customer’s facility.
  • Position will include: 75% sitting, 5% bending, 5% reaching, 5% standing, 5% walking, and 5% light lifting.
  • Our work schedule is currently a 9/80 schedule (Mon – Thurs nine (9) hours, with alternating Fridays off and the other Friday is an eight (8)-hour work day).
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills
  • High school education or equivalent required and two (2) years of relevant experience required.
  • Formal schooling or additional administrative training highly desired.
  • Prior experience working in Navy Supply system desired (AZ).
  • Possess a working knowledge of FAR/DFAR.
  • Previous experience working with hazardous material desired.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a high level of attention-to-detail required.
  • Must be capable of excellent verbal and written communication with a strong working knowledge of office equipment (ex: computers, printers, etc.) and proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Time-management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and the ability to provide administrative direction to employees are all required for this position.
  • Must possess the ability to work tactfully with professional engineers, technicians and management staff at all levels of effort.
  • Current CA Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
