Job summary

Flex in Austin, TX is seeking a Material Coordinator (Maintenance) to support production by managing material flow, scheduling deliveries and coordinating with purchasing.

1st shift 8:00am-5:00pm (Mon-Fri); primary duties include maintaining records, verifying material conformance, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring on-time material availability to keep manufacturing moving.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school or vocational training with computer experience.
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience in materials, planning, or related function.
  • Experience with ERP systems (BAAN) and inventory cycle counts.

Responsibilities

  • Compute material quantities for job orders.
  • Review schedules and coordinate with purchasing on raw materials.
  • Requisition materials and set delivery dates per plan.
  • Verify material conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain inventory records and generate reports.
  • Track material movements and support cycle counts.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Material Coordinator located in Austin, TX.

1st Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm (Mon-Fri)

What a typical day looks like
Responsibilities
  • Computes amount of material required to complete job orders.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with purchasing to define adequacy of raw materials.
  • Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to production plan, job order priorities and material availability, avoiding excess inventory positions.
  • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, moving or transporting materials from one department to another.
  • Compiles and maintains both manual and computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
  • Creates, updates, executes, and analyzes reports.
  • Gathers data, tracks, posts and pitches for action plans and root analysis.
  • Prioritizes data entry activities.
  • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Monitors and controls movement of material and parts for accurate inventory.
  • Writes procedures, updates them in document control.
  • Follows all distribution related ISO procedures, and Material Handling Guidelines.
  • Conducts training sessions for department's MRP procedures.
  • Administers the inventory cycle count program, reconciles discrepancies, resolves issues, and analyzes inventory cycle count reports.
  • Identifies parts and supplies that need to be ordered to maintain specified stocking levels.
  • Analyzes stock usage and defines correct stocking levels.
  • Investigates unusual high usage of materials and parts and suggests methods of correcting problem found.
  • Stocks and issues materials or merchandise.
  • In charge of for adding new part numbers to current inventory based on input from manufacturing.
  • Verifies the accuracy of the material kit vs. the pick list for correct parts by checking that all parts are packaged and contained in the kit.
  • Tracks defect levels on inspected kits, calculates quality performance, charts results, develops process improvements and schedules work of others.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires completion of secondary school, vocational training, or equivalent with experience in the use of computer applications.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience within the materials, planning or related function.
  • Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: typing, telephones, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages and database systems, Experience in the use of computer applications, Inventory Experience, BAAN or any ERP experience, Inventory Cycle count.
  • Demonstrates functional skills. Demonstrates basic functional process knowledge and participates in process.
