Job summary

Flex is seeking a Materials Lead to manage and optimize material flow for production lines in an on-site Austin facility. You will supervise staff, track product information, and coordinate receiving, issuing, and delivery of materials across operation areas.

The role emphasizes independent work and accurate record-keeping to support on-time production. Responsibilities include leading subordinates, maintaining schedules, compiling production-change reports, and overseeing material storage

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of material experience, including supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager the Materials Lead is responsible for tracking product information in order to keep businesses and supply chains on schedule for production lines.
  • Ensure proper scheduling and record keeping for materials moved within operations.
  • Participates in work related to receiving, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies within operation areas.
  • Works with independence in carrying out duties with limited supervision.
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the work of subordinates involved in material movement across different operation areas.
  • Ensure proper scheduling & record keeping for materials moved within operations area.
  • Compile reports on various aspects of changes in production which affects materials feeds to production lines.
  • Find, sort, or move goods between different parts of the business.
  • Oversees workers' schedules, estimate costs, keep track of materials, and write special orders for new materials.
  • Perform general office tasks, such as entering data or distributing mail.
  • May receive, unpack, and use hand-held scanners to keep track of merchandise within different production areas.
  • May weigh, measure, check, sample, and keep records on materials, supplies, and equipment that enters operations area.
  • May verify the quantity and quality of items provided on production line, checking for defects and recording what they find.
  • Reviews difficult or complex work procedures to resolve questions presented by workers.
  • Designs operations layout meant for material storage on line and oversees rearranging process.
  • May utilize computerized or automated system to accomplish tasks.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of material experience, including supervision
  • Office Skills: typing, telephones, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation package and database systems
  • Skills required: electronic scales, pallet jack, measuring tools, and alignment tools
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
